Inline image previews
Show images that agents read in the chat timeline, on desktop, web, and phones.
Inline image previews shows images that an agent reads during a turn directly in the Paseo chat timeline. Screenshots, browser captures, and other image files replace the plain read row with a preview, so verification results are visible on desktop, web, and phones. Selecting a preview opens it full-screen.
How it works
When an agent reads an image, the plugin replaces the tool row with the image. It also displays base64 image blocks returned by browser automation and MCP tools when Paseo has not already rendered them as images.
File previews are read from the daemon host through a plugin RPC. This works when the agent runs on a remote host. Inline image blocks are rendered from the tool result already in the conversation.
Setup
Install the plugin on the Paseo daemon and enable plugins. No account, token, settings, or extra software is required. The plugin supports desktop, web, iOS, and Android with Paseo 0.12 or later.
Data access
The plugin reads image files selected by agent read tool calls. It returns those bytes to the connected Paseo client over the existing daemon connection. It does not send data to another service, download software, or persist copies. A file is read when its preview loads; if the file is removed, the preview cannot be shown.
Limitations
- Images must be PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, or BMP and no larger than 20 MiB.
- SVG, HEIC, and AVIF files are left as the original tool row.
- The preview shows the file as it exists when the row loads, not a guaranteed copy of the bytes the agent saw.
- A preview requires the file to still exist on the daemon host.
